Why should we bother?!

The world of education is getting more and more competitive and universities need to use multiple channels to ensure that they build and grow competitive advantage. We offer comparatively low cost opportunity to reach students and families not accessed by other channels.

Compare the investment you make in Google Ads with us and you will soon see that it is a high value, low cost opportunity that should not be missed.

Do existing partners get benefits when it comes to pricing and reservations?

Yes. You will notice that we have two price points, one for existing partners and one for new ones. We also offer preferred slot selection to our existing partners so that they can optimize their episode placement for maximum impact.

Is there going to be a maximum number of partner institutions?

Obviously a podcast has limited bandwidth and so we are careful to limit the number of episodes in any one episode type to ensure that the podcast keeps its balance and relevance. Our priority will always be to represent our partners in the best possible light. We intend to offer as much value as possible over time, and will continually improve the value proposition for our partners.

How does recording work?

The recording process is really easy and we do all we can to make it as pleasurable and enjoyable as possible. Please take a look at the appropriate sections in the site for the detail you require, but in short:

  1. Prepare for the interview by listening to an episode or two
  2. Read the questions and make sure you have all the answers to the detailed questions at hand.
  3. Make sure that the sound set up is right. It is a podcast, after all!
  4. We record in video so please use a good quality camera and that your background is the one that you wish others to see. Make sure the camera lens is clean!
  5. Please ensure that your face is well light.
  6. Relax and don't worry...

What kind of equipment do I need?

This is what you need for a high quality recording:

  • A relatively new computer with plenty of hard disk space
  • An internet connection... the faster and more stable the better
  • A microphone, in a headset or separate. The one in your computer is not very high quality
  • A video camera. HD is best and they are cheaply available if you want the best quality. If you don't mind being a bit blurry, then your computer camera will just about work!

Do I need a fancy microphone?

No... but it helps! Honestly, a pair of AirPods or even the wired ear plug solution with a built in mic works well.

If you want to go to the next level there are a variety of options, one of the most popular is Blue Yeti from Logitech, this works well.

Will the podcast be recorded in video?

Yes. Our system records in high quality video. Unlike zoom or Google Meet, we record HD video to your hard disk and then it is uploaded into our servers. The quality can be great if your camera is of high quality.

What do I need to do before we record?

Read the questions, have the data you need, test the equipment and relax!

Do you any tips & tricks to ensure a successful interview?

Show who you are, talk with energy and passion and relax and enjoy the process.

Simple!

What platform do you use to record?
I'm not very good at tech. Can I still participate?

Sure!

The truth is that if you have ever participated in a zoom call, then you can record a podcast episode with us. If you have any problems with the set up just ask around for some help. We'll be there, of course, to support if you need anything at all.

What quality do you record in ?

High definition... if your camera, internet connection and computer allow it.

Do we need a super fast internet connection?

No. The slower connections do not alter the recording quality, just the upload speeds. If your connection is slower you may need to stay on the connection after the recording has finished until the data has been uploaded.

When we have recorded what happens next?

After recording we hand the files over to the production team to work their magic. They will edit the video and clean up the audio. Anything repeated or any errors will be edited out.

After that the graphic work will be completed and the episode will be uploaded into our network and the promotion work will get started.

How do you distribute and promote?

Podcast episodes are published initially to Spotify's podcast network and then distributed across all major podcast networks including Apple Podcasts and over 150 others.

In terms of promotion, we have a wide range of partners and networks that we use to distribute, share and promote each individual episode. We promise all our members that we will grow their reach by working hard to promote them by using their episodes.

How can we most effectively use our podcast episodes?

There are lots of ways to promote effectively. We have a whole section on our site dedicated to supporting universities get the most from their membership. You can find it here.

Please check back frequently as we regularly post new ideas on how to really effectively promote your episodes.

How many listeners can we expect per episode?

Good question. How long is a piece of string?

In reality we can ensure a minimum number of downloads through our large subscriber base and listener body. However, this is a shared endeavour and together we can achieve even more. Universities that regularly promote their episode and follow our advice when it comes to sharing and embedding reap the rewards when it comes to exposure and reach.

Like everything in the social sharing world, the more you share and the bigger the network, the deeper your reach.

How does the reach compare with an 'in-house' podcast episode?

Many universities believe that they can gain the same impact by making their own ‘in-house’ podcast. This is simply not the case.

‘In-house’ episodes only reach your existing contact group and rarely open doors to others outside of your network. By participating in a public podcast you broaden both your reach and your own network. Together, we are much stronger than on our own.

How much do we need to pay up front?

Nothing is paid 'up front'.

Production fees are either paid as part of a subscription plan or a single payment to be paid at the time of publication. Please check the pricing page for details around specific payment plans.

How are payments processed?

We us PayPal as our payment processor. Their global network is unrivalled and universities can use any credit or debit card to settle invoices.

We do not accept bank transfers or other forms of payment.

A fee currently set at 8% is charged in addition to all productions fees to cover the banking charges that we incur.

How are taxes dealt with?

Taxes are dealt with on a country by country basis. In some locations we are required to collect VAT, and in others not.

Can we pay with bank transfer etc?

No. We only accept credit or debit cards.

How much is the Banking Fee and what is it for?

The banking fee is currently set at 8%. This fee is designed to cover the banking and transfer costs that we incur as a result of doing business. This fee is, unfortunately, non negotiable.

Are there any discounts?!

Occasionally we offer discounts to universities but this is not a general practice. If you feel that our pricing is too high, please talk to us and we'll try to convince you of the value that we add!

We are part of a university group. Are there any discounts if more schools join?

Please talk to us about this. We are open to discounts if multiple episodes are booked at the same time.

Where can I find more details about your company?
